It’s quite sad that these days, Believers seem to have forgotten the efficacy in the name of Jesus whom we serve. As a result of this, we no longer experience the undefeatable power in the name of Jesus. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runs into it and is safe- Proverbs 18:10
The name Jesus is not some sort of slogan and motto or a means of identifying Christians. It is a name that has the most incredible power both in heaven and on Earth.
It is a name that brings fear to the heart of Satan and shuts up the kingdom of darkness. It is a name with so much potential and power. The infinite heights and depths of his person, presence, and power are key to that name.
Oftentimes, we seem overwhelmed with our problems and challenges and we forget that we have been given a name that has powers over our problems and challenges. We allow the devil to present fake evidence before us by making them look real. We let fear take the better part of us and make us lose our faith in the highest God.
God never forsakes those who trust in him and know his name.
PS 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
We serve a God who has power over principalities and powers, over death and sorrow, over everything that may come our way. As such he wants us to walk in the reality of who he is and what we possess in him.
What are the powers in the name of Jesus:
1) Power to save
The name of the Lord saves. It gives salvation to the worst sinner and gives the person a new name.
Act 2:21– And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. -KJV
In the name of Jesus lies salvation. As a sinner, when you call on the name of the Lord and confess your sins to him, he will hear and answer you. The Bible says there is joy in heaven over any sinner who repents.
Act 4:12– Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none another name under heaven among men, whereby we must be saved. -KJV
There are no other means of salvation that God has designed for a man. The only way made available through which man can access salvation is through Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one can access the father except through him.
He is always willing to hear and to save us because that is one of the reasons why he came to this world. He came to die for us and deliver us from every of our iniquity. He wants to save you, he can save you, only if you call on him.
2) Power over darkness
The name of Jesus has power over darkness. When Jesus sent out the seventy-two disciples they returned with a testimony saying that even demons submitted to them in the name of Jesus Luke 10:17
As a believer, when we realize the power in the name of Jesus, darkness will no longer control our lives. He is the light of the world and as long as we have him, we will not be in darkness. He will cause his light to shine upon every darkness which works in our lives and give us the ability to triumph over every work of darkness.
3) Power over sickness
The name of Jesus is capable of healing any disease, sickness, or infirmity. Peter knew this, that was why he healed the lame man in the name of Jesus
Act 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver or gold I do not have, but what I give you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.
When we understand that The name of Jesus is capable of healing us, we become free from sickness and every oppression of the enemy. No more will the devil afflict us. The Bible says we are healed by his stripes.
I Pet 2:24 who his self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. -KJV
Healing is present in the name of Jesus and is available only for those who believe.
4) Power over Storms of life
Storms of life can take any form. It can be in our academics, marital life, health- work, and more. The name of Jesus can put a stop to every storm. It can silence every storm in our lives and bring absolute peace to every area of our lives.
When Jesus was traveling with his disciples and a storm arose, Jesus commanded the storm to be still and there was absolute peace.
Matt 8: 24-26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, o ye of little faith? Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
When we possess Jesus, he will calm every storm for us and restore peace to every troubled area of our lives.
The name of Jesus is a strong tower, when we are Ill, when we are down or when we feel like giving up. It is a fortress we can always hide. It can and will always shield us from the attack of the enemies. His name has a huge power that cannot be described physically, mentally, morally, and in all areas.
The name of Jesus that is a strong tower is higher and stronger than your problems, it can keep you safe in times of trouble and provide for all your needs.
However, only the RIGHTEOUS can enjoy all of the benefits in the name of Jesus. The righteous is someone who is in right standing with God. He Who does not lift his heart into vanity, who has clean hands and a pure heart and does not sit in the gathering of the scornful. Only such a person can access the goodies in the name of Jesus.
It is impossible to attain righteousness unless it is being released by God.
Rom 5:17 For if by the trespass of one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
