Many times we are confused about what the presence of God truly mean. We don’t understand what dwelling in the presence of God truly mean in its entirety.
However, the presence of God has lots of significance and importance to our daily lives as Christians. The Divine presence of God helps us in all ramifications and gives us the grace to scale through hurdles and every difficulty. No wonder Moses said to God that “if your presence will not go with us, suffer us not to go Lord”. Moses was able to say this because he understands the importance of God’s presence and what it truly means.
Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the days that he sojourned here on earth, always make out time to tarry in the presence of the Father. Jesus would always go to solitary places to talk to God because he knew that with God, he will be able to accomplish his purpose here on Earth.
The psalmist also understood the efficacy of God’s presence, that way why he spoke about God’s presence in the book of Psalm. PS 91vs1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.”-KJV
What does the Divine presence of God actually mean?
The Divine presence of God refers to God dwelling with man, shielding him in all areas, communing and dining with him at all times and giving him all-round peace.
When the presence of God is with a man, he will not only pray a one-way prayer without receiving a response from God. He gets to talk to God like a friend and receive instructions from God just like Abraham. God was able to communicate his intentions known to him because he carried the Divine presence of God. Many more are the goodies in Christ Jesus when we carry his divine presence.

1. Divine Peace
Peace is the absence of chaos. When a man carries and dwells in the presence of God, he will enjoy absolute peace and will even let him be at peace with his enemies. When the disciples of Jesus were experiencing a storm on the sea, they were troubled because they don’t know what to do but because Jesus Christ was with them, they were able to call on him and Jesus Christ calmed the storm.
Mrk 4:39- And he arises and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, peace, be still. And the sea ceased, and there was a great calm.
As Christians, when we are overwhelmed with the presence of God, we will enjoy all-round success in Business, Academics, marriage and other areas of our lives.
2. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit
Nothing is as interesting and sweet as the fellowship with the holy spirit. When a man carries the presence of God, he enjoys unlimited intimacy with God. When God created man, he kept man in the garden of Eden and God would come down in the evening to fellowship with Adam until the serpent deceived Eve and the glory of God departed from man.
Gen 3:6-7 When the woman saw that the tree looked like good eating and realized what would get out of it, she would know everything! She took and ate the fruit and then gave some to her husband, and he ate.
Vs 8- Immediately the two of them did “see what’s really going on”- saw themselves naked! They sew fig leaves together as makeshift clothes for themselves. -MSG.
3. Divine instructions and directions
A Christian that does not carry God’s presence will lack direction. But when a Christian carries God’s presence, he gets to ask God for direction and await God’s instruction on issues and challenges. When David Came back from battle and he discovered that his family and possession have been taken, he immediately enquired from the Lord to ask for directions for him to know the next line of action.
I Sam 30:8-9 Then David prayed to God, “Shall I go after these raiders? Can I catch them?” The answer came, “Go after them! Yes, you’ll catch them! Yes, you’ll make the rescue!”
Vs 9 David went, he and the six hundred men with him. They arrived at the Brook Besor, where some of them dropped out. -MSG.
David was able to overtake and recover his possession because he has always tarried in the presence of God and he was able to receive instructions from God.
4. Divine Protection
A man that carries God’s presence will always be kept from harm’s way. Daniel in the lion’s Den was not harmed by the hungry lions because he carried the presence of God with him.
Daniel 6:16&22 Then the king commanded and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions, Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, thy God whom thou servest continually he will deliver thee.
Vs 22- My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lion’s mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.-KJV
